The portal contains technologies and research abstracts. The contents of this database can be searched using key words and phrases in the search bar. The contents are categorized to make it easier to find what you are looking for. One category describes the technology while the second category describes the type of ocean energy application. Our team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) review a group of technologies and research every month to verify the information, describe the benefits, and suggest potential applications in the ocean energy industry.
Offshore Relevance Level
A grading system for how well the listed technology or research directly relates to offshore oil and gas opportunities and/or addresses challenges in the industry.
0: No relevance.
1: Some relevance. Not immediately evident, but it is possible.
2: Moderate relevance. Additional work is required to ensure successful application.
3: Immediate relevance. Can be quickly and directly applied to the offshore industry.
Offshore Readiness Level
This is similar to the standard Technology Readiness Level used at research institutions (including NASA). This level describes how ready the technology is for ocean energy applications. The figure below will quickly explain the level system.
